The carers employed by Merseycare Julie Ann will have appropriate skills, training and qualifications for the individual Service User for who they provide care / support. The company will assess the needs of all Service Users and match those needs with the skills of employees, to ensure that only those employees with appropriate skills are deployed. Care staff have a range of qualifications, the profile of which changes from time to time and full details of which are available from the Registered Manager. Induction Staff attend an induction which takes place over a 3 to 5 day period which includes company policies and procedures, staffing issues and shadowing with an experienced member of staff. A training plan is completed to identify any courses that are appropriate for staff. Training needs are also identified at all staff supervisions / appraisals. Training All care staff must hold the required mandatory qualifications which include First Aid, Health and Safety, Moving and Handling and Food Hygiene. These are taken within the first six weeks during their initial induction period. There are additional courses that we deliver which staff can attend these include:
NVQ After 6 months care staff are registered onto the NVQ qualification either level 2 or 3 depending if the job role fits the criteria and level of experience. Training Companies Merseycare Julie Ann currently use the following companies to deliver courses. We are in the process of training our own staff to enable us to deliver some of our own qualifications. For example, 2 members of staff are trained to deliver Moving and Handling.
