Since the pandemic, many of our carers have become the only visitor our service users see. Many are isolated from their loved ones and communication can prove challenging.
Our carer Karla has worked for us in south Liverpool for 2 years, and regularly visits service user Joan. They often share a cuppa once her care tasks are complete and have formed a great bond. To ensure Joan maintains the regular contact with family that she usually has, Karla recently used video call as a communication tool – “I recently used video call to contact Joan’s niece and sent pictures of her new flowers and hanging baskets. It made Joan and the family really happy and was nice to see. I am quite close with Joan, as I am with all my service users. I have learnt a lot about her”.
Thank you to Karla for the wonderful work you are doing, and thank you to all our carers working across Merseyside. You are providing an invaluable service and we are so proud to have you representing MCJA.
